Naomi and Kyle wanted a natural feel to their wedding, one, that flowed from an outdoor ceremony into an inside reception. They described Merne as a ‘venue that was able to be uniquely breath taking without having to add extravagant toppings’.
How would you describe yourselves and what inspired your style of wedding?
Kyle and I wanted a private and intimate setting that was reflective of our lives together. We resisted the urge to splash out on unnecessary extravagance instead focusing on what was important to us. We loved the bush land setting of Merne and that our beloved dog could be there on the day. We were also able to indulge in a post ceremony whisky to start the party!
What were you looking for in a wedding venue?
We both grew up on the Bellarine and wanted to return to get married in the presence of our families. We wanted a natural feel to our wedding venue, that flowed from an outdoor ceremony into an inside reception. What made you choose Merne?
From the moment we pulled into Merne and saw the forest, we knew it was exactly what we wanted. The surrounding nature was perfect as it felt like we were in the middle of the Australian bush. The team at Merne, couldn’t have been more genuine and friendly. They were flexible with their options which couldn’t be matched anywhere else.
How would you describe the process of planning your wedding at Merne?
Easy, stress free and fun.
Planning a wedding is said to be stressful, however my experience couldn’t be further from the truth. From the moment of booking to getting married 11months later, the team at Merne and their communication was amazing, I wasn’t worried or stressed at all. Dropping off bits and pieces the day before and having Merne style the layout for the reception as we envisioned was so easy.
Was there a highlight from your wedding day you would like to share?
Sneaking off to have a moment to ourselves during the reception with glasses of champagne walking in the olive grove, laughing and smiling, not believing we were married. Felt like we were a world away.
